Echo Beach Axed?

Both Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach will be returning to ours screens later this year, but with Echo Beach being axed within the Moving Wallpaper show.
The true understanding is that Echo Beach will not be returning, but Moving Wallpaper will be, as 30 minute episodes.
Not really sure i understand this myself, after searching the web i'm still unsure what will be happening.
It's been released by ITV, that the MW crew will be working a¡on a new show, a Zombie Show.

I guess time will tell, and ITV will release more news in the next couple of months. The show is now being filmed right now, maybe for a screening in late 2008 or early 2009.

Moving Wallpaper Echo Beach Series 2

ITV has confirmed that both Moving Wallpaper and Echo Beach will be returning to our screens. According to some reports, Echo Beach was going to be an internet based drama, meaning that you would watch the show online. This has been dismissed as rubbish by ITV insiders. Echo Beach is a sure fire return for ITV1, so if your worried about the show dont be. ITV was very pleased with how the show ran, over 2 million viewers at one point, good for a new show, so ITV has decided that both shows might need a little tweak, but they will return.

The show's viewing figures dropped slowly throughout the show, but ITV has seen that both shows van be improved, so expect it back on our screens in 2009 or maybe even late 2008.

The Poll - Which is better?

According to some websites, Moving is the sister show to Echo, but with Moving Wallpaper being on first it kind of could be the other way around. Echo to me is the stand out show, but Moving does have some great actors and the story lines are hilarious, Ben Miller being the stand out, a little bit mental Jonathan Pope.

Echo Beach on the other hand is the show that really everyone wants to watch, being the new soap on TV, Moving just seems to be a filler for the first half hour slot. My wife dosent watch Moving, she thinks it has no reason to be on, but loves Echo Beach. Maybe ITV will change the format somehow for the next series, or as the old saying goes, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Please make your vote count, the Poll is to the right>>

Both shows are on Fridays from 9pm.

Moving and Echo on twice this week

We have been given a double dose of moving wallpaper and echo beach this week, the first shows being on late, but never mind. Also, lots of buzz on the internet about the mole and the whole Martine lesbian story, i think maybe some people think this is real.
The show is moving on quite quick now, we are now half way through the 12 episodes, and i sure it wont be off our screens very long.

You can watch some exclusive clips at ITV.com of the mole and preview of upcoming shows.

Are both shows working together?

After watching the shows now for 4 weeks, and letting the character and whole situation of both shows interacting, i'm not really sure if both shows are working together. Echo Beach seems to be the stand out show, and personally i think could do with being an hour long. This doesn't mean Moving Wallpaper is not a great show, Ben Miler is a great comedy actor and has stood out through the whole programme. I do like the way the shows flow in to one another, and the in jokes etc, but if Moving Wallpaper wasn't their in the first place and Echo Beach was an hour long, would it be more successful. I'm hoping both shows get commissioned for another series, but please make Echo more important, it really works. The characters are now showing their own, and Jason sure does look good back on our screens. Both shows are not even half way through yet, with 12 shows of both programmes scheduled to run.

Watch the next episodes, Friday from 9pm.

Sam also has to hold the fort for an episode aiming to win the "Spectacular Scene of the Year" award.

moving Wallpaper Echo Beach - Viewers Figures down.

After three weeks of giving the other channels a beating, Moving Wallpaper, Echo Beach has now seen a drop in viewers. Friday night saw Gordon Ramseys new show "Cook Along Live" give ITV & BBC programmes a beating. His new show, which was given a primetime slot against MW-EB and BBC ones hit show "New Tricks" gave Channel 4 4.4 million viewers, against Moving Wallpaper 3.5 million , and an even lower 2.8 million for Echo Beach. This is quite a problem for ITV, as both shows have been given masses of publicity and advertising coverage. The show could bounce back this friday 25th Jan, and im sure ITV is hoping so.

The Ratings.

Both Moving Wallpaper & Echo Beach both received a healthy 5 million veiwers of Friday. Moving Wallpaper starring Ben Miller in it's 9pm slot and Echo Beach in it's 9.30pm slot beat off competition from the BBC's Fairy Tales. ITV1 had an average share of 21 %, while the BBC could only raise a 14% share. This is great news for ITV1, with many TV Reveiwers saying this is a big chance for ITV1 to lose some credibility. Moving Wallpaper - Echo Beach was in the pipeline for over 12 years, so it had to pay off well for ITV1, and it seems to be working so far.

Jason Donovan - Back on Primetime TV

After his recent TV boost in ITV's Im a Celebrity, which is one of the best shows on TV (my personal opinion) Jason Donovan is back on TV. Jason had huge success in Neighbours and then a massively popular Singing Career, i think he's on tour in 2008. He is now starring in ITV's ratings success Echo Beach, the new post watershed soap, based in Cornwall. The real success of the show is yet to be seen as only 2 episodes have been shown upto now 16-01-2008.
I hope the show is a big hit with the veiwers and continues to adorn our screen for years to come. I think UK TV is missing another soap, as Corrie and Eastenders have been hugging the limelight long enough, its time for another soap to make it's impact.

Moving Wallpaper / Echo Beach: Complete Series 1 Box Set [2007]

Episodes 2 - Moving Wallpaper, Echo Beach.

I must personally admit, i thought the second episodes of both programmes were better than the first. I think even now after on 2 episodes of each, we are all slowly getting into the characters. Moving wallpaper is my personal favourite, i like Ben Miller as a comedy actor. He just appereared in the ITV1 saturday night show, hank god your here, and that was really funny, i great new show building on where, Whose line is it anyway left off. Moving Wallpaper is superbly written and acted, with Susie Amy appering in both, and getting more and more lines because of what shes doing to Ben Millers character, brilliant.

Echo Beach could be a new hit soap for ITV1, i hope that it does stay on TV, could do with being 1 hour long instead of the too hort half hour it only receives now. Jason Donovan is obviously grabbing hold of the chance to be back in prime time television, and it shows. I guess we are going to have to wait until episode 12 until we see what really happened in the past. Lets hope ITV is already getting series 2 ready to roll, as its the kind of show that needs to be on TV all the time, like Coronation Street and BBC1's Eastenders.

As they both now have the 9pm 9,30 pm slots, ITV has really thought about this show in detail, going up against BBC1's prime time friday night shows like, Have i got news for you, Jam & Jerusalem and the very popular New Tricks.

Thoughts on the first Episodes.

After the very first episodes, Moving Wallpaper, Echo beach seems to be a hit with the viewers.
Personally i thought the first programme, Moving Wallpaper was very funny. The lead role played by the very talented comic actor Ben Miller, was a instant hit with my humour. I liked the way you got to see how things mentioned in Moving Wallpaper moved over into Echo Beach, like the Pink Dress/Blue Dress discussion and also the girl who wouldn't cry.

The setting for Echo Beach was beautiful, a really nice picture postcard town in Cornwall.
The main character for me was Jason Donovan, his character, Daniel stuck out as the main emphasis on the show. From the first few minutes, i got the feel of the old Nick Berry series Harbour Lights, it had the same feel.

I hope the show is a success as a i think British TV has room for another well written comedy and new drama soap, Eastenders and Coronation Street have been stealing the screens for long enough, bring on episode 2.

On the first episode of Echo beach we see the introduction of the charaters, Daniel Marrack played by Jason Donovan returns to Polnarren after 20 years away, with his 2 children.
